This Is Why

Because two years ago on this day, you asked me out to lunch and spent the entire afternoon investing time, thought and conversation in me. Because even though you still had growing to do, you were committed to growing with me. Because for three months after that when I would express fear or doubt, you stood and expressed love and hope. Because you had no experience doing what I asked or needed but you undertook the task, seeking wisdom from others who could better guide us both. Because when I shared my heart with you, you never belittled me or made me feel unworthy. Because when I showed you my scars and the worst parts of me, you still called me beautiful and virtuous and worthy of honor. Because when I was at odds with everyone and everything around me, you held my hands and led me to the King in prayer. Because when I had nothing to call my own, you offered me of all of yours.

That’s why I said YES to you.

On this day two years ago, I had my first date with the best fiance in the world. Life has been radically different ever since. I am so grateful to God for what He is doing in our lives.
